Psychoeducational Evaluations for Children and Adolescents in Tampa Bay

Comprehensive Academic and Learning Evaluations

At Grow Neuropsychology, we provide comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for children and adolescents throughout the Tampa Bay area, including Land O’ Lakes, Lutz, Wesley Chapel, Carrollwood, Odessa, Pasco County, and surrounding communities.

Psychoeducational evaluations help identify a child’s unique cognitive, academic, and learning profile in order to better understand why they may be struggling in school or not performing consistently with expectations.

These evaluations are often helpful for children with concerns related to reading, writing, math, attention, executive functioning, giftedness, processing speed, or academic underachievement.

Our goal is to identify both strengths and areas of difficulty while providing practical recommendations that support academic success, educational planning, and emotional well-being.

Signs Your Child May Benefit From a Psychoeducational Evaluation

Children and adolescents referred for psychoeducational testing may experience:

  • Difficulty learning to read, write, or complete math work

  • Slow reading fluency or poor reading comprehension

  • Frequent homework frustration

  • Trouble retaining new information

  • Difficulty following multi-step directions

  • Weak written expression or spelling

  • Poor organization or time management

  • Inconsistent academic performance

  • Difficulty keeping up with classroom demands

  • Attention and concentration difficulties

  • Anxiety related to school or testing

  • Cognitive/intellectual assessment

  • Academic achievement testing

  • Reading, writing, and math assessment

  • Attention and executive functioning measures

The accompanying report includes individualized recommendations for home and school, including educational accommodations, intervention recommendations, and strategies to support learning and academic functioning.

Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia

Psychoeducational evaluations may help identify learning differences such as:

  • Dyslexia:  Difficulties with reading accuracy, fluency, decoding, spelling, or reading comprehension.

  • Dysgraphia:  Difficulties with handwriting, written expression, spelling, organization of written thoughts, or graphomotor skills.

  • Dyscalculia:  Difficulties with mathematical reasoning, calculation, number sense, or math fluency.

Identifying these learning differences early can help families and schools provide more targeted interventions and supports.

Executive Functioning and Academic Performance

Many children who struggle academically also experience executive functioning weaknesses. Executive functioning skills are responsible for organization, planning, task initiation, working memory, time management, self-monitoring, and emotional regulation.

Executive functioning weaknesses may contribute to:

  • homework taking excessively long

  • difficulty studying independently

  • incomplete assignments

  • procrastination

  • inconsistent performance

  • emotional frustration related to school

These concerns are especially common in high-achieving students, gifted children, and older students facing increasing academic demands.

School Accommodations and Educational Planning

When appropriate, recommendations may include:

  • 504 Plan accommodations

  • IEP recommendations

  • academic intervention recommendations

  • classroom accommodations

  • executive functioning supports

  • testing accommodations

  • SAT/ACT accommodation recommendations

  • organizational and study strategies

  • recommendations for tutoring or specialized instruction

Recommendations are individualized and designed to support long-term academic success.
